Reform UK won seven seats on West Lancashire Borough Council at the elections on 7 May 2026. It was the party’s first borough breakthrough in the area, and enough to make Reform the council’s fourth-largest group from a standing start.
The new borough councillors are Aaron Body (Tanhouse and Skelmersdale Town Centre), Gareth Oakes (Rural West), Nigel Hudson (Skelmersdale South), Alison Jones (Burscough Bridge and Rufford), Richard Lee (Up Holland), Lizzie Urquhart (Skelmersdale North) and Ella Worthington (Old Skelmersdale). Cllr Body leads the Reform group on the council, with Cllr Oakes as his deputy.
The gains were strongest in Skelmersdale, where Reform now holds seats right across the town. They build on Reform’s county councillors already representing West Lancashire divisions on Lancashire County Council.
West Lancashire Borough Council remains under no overall control. Reform UK will use its new group to scrutinise spending and decisions, and to press the case for the parts of the borough that have felt taken for granted for too long.
